Since its construction in 1912, The Sheldon has housed great thinkers, creators, artists and leaders, first as the home of the Ethical Society, now as what it has evolved to be: the premier destination for the arts in the St. Louis area and beyond.
School programming at The Sheldon includes an educational concert series, STEAM classroom programs, and gallery visits.
We have limited availability for schools to reserve a place to eat their brown bag lunch at The Sheldon. No food is allowed in the concert hall or art gallery. Contact Guest Services Manager educationboxoffice@thesheldon.org to request a space in The Sheldon for your group. Grand Center Arts District also offers several outdoor spaces in walking distance, like Strauss Park, Public Media Commons, and the Tree Grove or Park Like from Pulitzer Arts Foundation.
Public restrooms on Floors 2 and 4 are available for use on a visit to The Sheldon. Each has 5 stalls.
Please see Ticket and Payment Policies for details.

The Sheldon Galleries will have on view the exhibition We Each Hold Stories from November 7, 2025 – May 2, 2026. We Each Hold Stories features 16 established and emerging Indigenous American artists co-curated by Tom Jones of the Ho-Chunk Nation and Paula Lincoln, The Sheldon Gallery Director. The work in the exhibition explores themes of personal experience, family, history, and current social issues. The artists reimagine their Native identity through storytelling, addressing land, community, and human behavior with a focus on healing and connection between past and present.
Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we can accommodate 35 students at one time. Groups with 70 students can be divided into two consecutive tours, totaling 60 minutes.
