During this one hour virtual field trip, students will tune into a live presentation and discussion with an ASRC researcher and education facilitator.
The trip will include: information about the Advanced Science Research Center and CUNY; pathways into research careers and academia (degree programs at CUNY); an Intro to the ASRC's five research initiatives (nanoscience, photonics, structural biology, neuroscience, environmental sciences) and how we do interdisciplinary research; a discussion about research and how to do research at home and online; and a presentation by a ASRC researcher about their career journey and how the work they do is important to society.
One you’ve booked, we will contact you with a Zoom link that you can share with your students. Educators and students will need: (1) access to a smartphone or a computer with internet connection; and, (2) to download the free Zoom mobile app or web browser client.
The Advanced Research Center (ASRC) is CUNY's premier interdisciplinary
research institute, purpose built for scientific discovery and education that transcends traditional boundaries.
The ASRC is designed around five dynamic research initiatives, each
occupying an entire floor. The initiatives bring together high school students,
undergrads, grads, post doctoral researchers, and faculty members to
collaborate on expansive new research yielding practical benefits for society.
Our virtual field trips include a live dialog and presentation with an ASRC researcher and education facilitator. Trips are appropriate for grades 6-12 and undergraduate students.
The trip is hosted through Zoom.
