Look up! There’s a farm on the roof! Learn about all the natural processes that occur on a green roof farm. The Farm Explore workshop provides a great introduction to urban agriculture, allowing students to witness a sustainable, working farm in action. Students of all ages will engage in hands-on lessons about where food comes from, plant science, composting, honeybees, and chickens. While specific activities change from season to season, Farm Explore lessons are structured around a comprehensive overview of urban agriculture. Come visit our rooftop farms with your classroom or youth organization!
City Growers uses urban agriculture to engage youth in experiential learning, nurturing a lifelong relationship to food, their health, and the natural world. We host field trips for youth at Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farms in Sunset Park, and at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
GETTING HERE:
City Growers educators will meet your group in the lobby of the Liberty Brooklyn Building, in the food court area. Participants will then ride the passenger elevator directly to the roof.
