Children will experience the adventures and hardships of covered wagon life in the 1860s. Students will travel as a “family group” of pioneers to five activity stations. As the families encounter each activity they will need to work together to complete the activity and continue their journey to the West.
Four Mile Historic Park is a 12-acre piece of country in the heart of the city. Home to the Four Mile House, Denver’s oldest standing structure, our mission is to educate a diverse community through experiences that promote the preservation, responsible interpretation, and enjoyment of Denver’s storied western heritage.
We offer standards-aligned field trips for groups both large and small, along with a Traveling Trunk program on subjects such as homestead life, Indigenous cultures, and Colorado women to bring the hands-on history to your school or library.
