The GIANT Room 40.7516° N -74.00425° W

Description

The GIANT Room is for students with GIANT Dreams who dare to act on them. We are an innovation hub open to preschool, elementary, and middle schools offering a variety of programs focused on STEAM (STEM + Arts), coding, and fabrication. Our space is equipped with a laser cutter, 3D printer, vinyl cutter, and embroidery machine, alongside various creative technologies such as littleBits and Makey Makey, arts and crafts materials, basic electronics, and microcomputers, all available for students to get messy, explore questions together, and collectively innovate to bring their GIANT dreams into the world.

Our team of GIANT Mentors are working designers, artists, engineers, educators, and musicians who have degrees from Harvard, Parsons, NYU, Columbia, and the Art Institute of Chicago. They work side by side with students; sharing their expertise to seamlessly integrate arts, design, engineering, science, and technology.

With the right balance of structured and unstructured programming, GIANT kids develop their STEAM (STEM + Arts) knowledge and practice soft skills such as creative confidence, problem-solving, collaboration and communication. Our goal is to help kids to be comfortable with tech tools in the same way that they are comfortable with markers and paper. We make it possible for them to mess around with tech, take things apart, put them together in new ways, and build new inventions that address challenges they care about.

No two learning experiences at The GIANT Room are the same. Our education team carefully crafts each experience with the teachers' goals in mind. Whether you're studying the Manhattan skyline or rovers on mars, we'll create an exciting and engaging out-out-school experience for your students.
