The Mr. & Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library, an environmental learning center nestled in Wyandotte County Lake Park, is a unique facility offering science and nature education as well as field trips and outreach programs, summer camps, monthly family-friendly educational programs, annual special events, books, magazines, and teaching resources, computers and science databases, a self-guided nature trail with benches, bird feeding areas for bird watching, pollinator-friendly gardens and landscaping, a certified Monarch Waystation, a registered Lewis and Clark Historical Site with garden, volunteer opportunities, and an art gallery.

The Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library is the result of a unique partnership between the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library, USD 500 and the Unified
Government of Wyandotte County Parks and Recreation Department.
