The waterworks museum is housed in the former Chestnut Hill High Service Pumping Station and showcases three steam engine and pump systems from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Our education programs touch on a variety of topics including the water cycle, simple machines, water testing, water filtration, fluid systems, and civil engineering. We explore these themes through a variety of hands-on inquiry based activities. Visit our website at https://waterworksmuseum.org/ to learn more! Please note that while we are closed to the public Monday and Tuesday, field trips can take place Monday - Friday.
In nice weather, lunch can take place outside on our lawn with scenic views of the chestnut hill reservoir. In colder weather, lunch can be conducted inside our Great engines hall. Students should bring lunch as there is no food sold on site.
Our bathrooms are located in the basement level and are accessible via stairs or elevator. Approximately 4-5 students can use the restrooms at once.
