Brunch: Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m.

If you are visiting the museum and would like to order a carry out to enjoy after your visit, you may call ahead to place your order (816.561.7740) or order in person at the Café host stand. Find out more about Museum safety precautions here.

Café Sebastienne has transitioned from a full-service fine dining experience to a fast-casual restaurant, featuring the same inventive fare and local ingredients that have always distinguished chef Rick Mullins’ cuisine.

Guests will order at the café host stand and receive their food in single-use recyclable packaging. Seating is limited for social distancing with tables placed at least 10 feet apart in the enclosed courtyard.

To visit the café in person, guests need timed tickets to enter Kemper Museum, but café reservations are not required. We encourage visitors to reserve Museum tickets in advance here, but tickets will be available for walk-ins as long as capacity limits have not been reached. Masks must be worn at all times except while eating and drinking.

Bathroom Notes

Virtual Field Trip

Contemporary Art Online for Schools

This tour of artworks from Kemper Museum’s Permanent Collection engages school groups with activity and discussion during a 50 minute video conference. Experienced Kemper Museum docents lead students with the hospitality our visitors enjoy in the galleries!

As a teacher, you select a date and time for each class here on Explorable Places, using the "flexible time slots" available throughout the school year. These allow you to schedule a 50 minute tour at the time your class meets online. We'll notify our volunteer docents of the opportunity to connect with you. When docents are assigned, they will be added to the Google Calendar invitation we send to your email address. All information you enter when you book your tour will appear in that invitation.

Please note that docents will need screen sharing permission to navigate Kemper Museum's virtual gallery.

Kindly provide the meeting link (not just the meeting ID) and other information requested when you book your tour. Thanks!

Kemper Museum docents can't wait to meet your students and hear their ideas about the Museum's artworks!

Virtual Gallery Talk

These talks are available on Explorable Places for UMKC medical docent groups. If you would like to book a Virtual Gallery Talk and you're not a UMKC medical docent, kindly contact Thanks!

Kemper Museum's Virtual Gallery Talks are informal conversations with trained museum docents. The talks take place on Zoom, using images of artworks from the Museum's current or recent exhibitions. In 2021, Virtual Talks are planned for the exhibition, "Elias Sime, Tightrope," and (beginning in March) "Dyani White Hawk: Speaking with Relatives." Virtual Gallery Talks use the Google Arts and Culture online platform, which offers special viewing techniques and high-resolution images of artworks, as well as views of the actual installations at Kemper Museum. Google’s online galleries provide fine ground for discussion, and a personalized way to prepare for or follow-up on a Museum visit.
