Golden History Museum & Park engages and inspires visitors through preserving and sharing Golden’s history.

The Golden History Museum is a dynamic, modern museum with exhibits, research library, artifact lab, children’s gallery, and theater.

The Golden History Park is a three-acre outdoor learning lab with historic buildings that replicate a 19th century mountain homestead.

The museum’s acclaimed educational programming includes the award-winning Building Colorado classroom outreach program for third- and fourth-graders, Hands-on History Summer Camp, and Golden City Trading Post field trip experience. A multitude of public programs for adults including lectures, tours, film screenings, and more are offered year-round.

Golden City Trading Post

Alongside local partners, GHM&P will provide activities and experiences at Golden History Park. All demonstrations and crafts will be linked to late 19th and early 20th century Colorado history, and suitable for K-5 students. Watch a blacksmith in action and learn about life on the frontier! Your students will experience a great range of activities in our new, self-led field trip model.

Building Colorado: Cities (4th Grade)

Bring our fun, game based program, “Building Colorado” to your fourth grade classrooms! The game combines Colorado history, geography and economics in an exciting 90-minute lesson, led by museum staff.

Building Colorado fulfills fourth grade content standards by using game situations to challenge students’ critical thinking skills and let them experience first-hand, the opportunity cost of making choices about the Colorado Gold Rush, railroads, and more.
