September - Black Archives of Mid-America

Description

**Race Project KC events are for partner schools only. If you are interested in joining Race Project KC to attend these events, please visit our website at www.raceprojectkc.com to find out more.

Location: Black Archives of Mid-America: 1722 E 17th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64106

Community Health Council of Wyandotte County (CHC) along with the creators of the Redlined Comic Book series will examine how historical property value discrimination (through redlining in the 1930’s) has snowballed over time into Wyandotte neighborhoods suffering from inadequate housing, lack of access to adequate health care, and environmental health injustices. CHC will present the Health Equity Transformation report. Students will be engaged with Head, Heart, Foot exercises (what does this information make you think? how does this information make you feel? how does this information inspire you to action?) The comic book team will present the comics and work with students to tell their own three panel comic based on the report.
