SCHOOL Virtual - Journey to the Past

Description

Transit history through a tour of our vintage trains and storytelling (virtual)

Offered At

New York Transit Museum

The New York Transit Museum is dedicated to telling and preserving the stories of mass transportation – extraordinary engineering feats, workers who labored in the tunnels over 100 years ago, communities that were drastically transformed, and the ever-evolving technology, design, and ridership of a system that runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Opening hours reflect the group tour schedule (Wed-Sat) and the Birthday Experience schedule (Sat-Sun). Please visit our website for the general public hours.

JUNIOR CONDUCTORS: School Holiday Day Camp
School’s out, adventure’s in! Step into the world of transportation at this action-packed day camp at our subway station museum. Campers will build, create, and explore through artmaking, engineering challenges, scavenger hunts, science experiments, and more. With a small group setting, every participant gets plenty of support from camp facilitators plus the chance to make lasting friendships with fellow junior conductors.

BIRTHDAY EXPERIENCE
Celebrate your child's next birthday at the New York Transit Museum, the "perfect place to throw your kid's bash," according to Time Out New York Kids. Recommended for kids ages 7-12, this birthday party experience will lead partygoers through an immersive and interactive adventure in the subway station turned museum. A lost time traveler needs help repairing their time machine, and partygoers will need to assist by solving a series of challenges and puzzles hidden in our vintage train cars. Led by experienced and engaging facilitators, participants will have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore and investigate a working subway station with over 100 years of transit history brought to life for young transportation enthusiasts!
