Machines in the Age of Rail

Description

Delve into the simple and complex machines found at the museum’s active railyard. Students use steam locomotives, our turntable, and telegraph to explore wheels, axles, and inclined planes at the railyard.

Cost: $4 per child, ages 2-15, one supervisor for every five children (under 12). Supervisors receive free Museum admission.
Payment in full is due on the day of your field trip.

Colorado Railroad Museum

Railroads have been expanding our world here in Colorado for over 150 years! Not only have railroads sparked innovation but they played an integral role in westward expansion, accelerating settlement, and helping shape our state’s economy. This open-air museum covers 15 acres and provides multiple educational opportunities including standard-based field trips, workshops, digital lesson plans, and tours to learn how trains have been transforming our state since the 1870s.
