Living Lab: Fish 'N' Me Anatomy (Grades 6-8)

Description

Get your hands all scaly and slimy with this dissection. Through this fun, interactive dissection, students explore the internal and external parts that help a fish survive its marine habitat.

This is a one-hour standards-based lesson with a Living Coast staff member. Exact program schedule varies by group size. Program duration includes rotations through one-hour lesson (led by staff), outdoor exhibit exploration, lunch, scavenger hunt and trail exploration (led by classroom teacher). Maximum of 3 classes per day (96 students).

Living Coast Discovery Center

The Living Coast Discovery Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit zoo and aquarium located on the San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Founded in 1987 as the Chula Vista Nature Interpretive Center, we have served the San Diego community for over 30 years. The Living Coast Discovery Center is home to many native San Diego species including sharks, fish, lizards, and birds of prey. Students will have the opportunity to visit our animal ambassadors and explore the Sweetwater Marsh through trail exploration.
