Little Lessons in Indian Lifeways (K - 2nd)
Description
Allow artifacts and Native American storytelling to transport your students back 1,000 years to the Eastern Woodlands, learning how found objects and oral traditions bring the past to life. During this program, students will explore Native American homes, play musical instruments, and examine leather clothing and animal furs. Through sight and touch, children will learn and experience Native American lifeways. Enhance the experience with one of our add-on activities, such as games or a craft. Each add-on increases price per student and length of the program.

The Institute For American Indian Studies
The Institute for American Indian Studies (IAIS) is a museum and research center in Washington, CT dedicated to preserving and educating about the diverse traditions, vitality, and knowledge of Native American cultures. The museum is nestled on 15 acres of woodlands and trails, complete with an outdoor 16th Century Replicated Algonkian Village, Three Sisters Garden, and Healing Plants Garden. Our interdisciplinary school programs are designed with the CT and NY State Standards in mind to encourage discussions and provide interactive learning through hands-on activities either at our facility or yours.
