The only company in the world to perform the signature trademark style, Hiplet Ballerinas of Chicago fuses classical pointe technique with African, Latin, hip-hop, and urban dance styles rooted in communities of color.
They incorporate the rhythms of African drums with Tchaikovsky, arabesques, and beatboxing – all while showcasing Hiplet's trademark sass, hip movements and struts against music from Black Violin to Beyonce. Promoting inclusivity in both their cast and audience, Hiplet features true-toned tights, modern music, and dancers of all shapes, sizes, and colors.
We offer youth performances that cultivate future audiences, learning opportunities to impact teaching practices and artist master classes connecting you directly with visiting artists. We promote creativity as a practical and empowering skill by providing equitable access to high quality experiences in the arts, both in the school and in the community.
Teachers – Each year we present 5 – 6 professional touring companies to visiting school groups that bring to life the curriculum you are teaching. The plays and concerts selected range from historical topics to classic and popular literature. Additionally, we are part of the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Program that brings Arts Integration Professional Development to our community.
Students – We are here to inspire you with high-quality performing arts experiences! Whether it’s with your school or with your family, we have something for everyone. Music, theatre and dance are all represented each season.
Families – Looking for a fun night out or family friendly concert? Parents and children will love our performing arts series with family friendly events offered each season. Our daytime school group performances are also the perfect opportunity for homeschooling families to extend their learning. Stay tuned!
