Garden Exploration

Description

Our youngest visitors are put in touch with their five senses through grounding exercises, and asked to take a moment to tune out city sounds and stimuli and focus on our little pocket of urban green. Students receive basic tools for finding calm within a city environment, and engage deeply with the plants through sight, smell, touch and taste.

Offered At

Gitano Garden

Gitano Garden is a large raised-bed vegetable and herb garden located on the expansive back patio of Gitano NYC, a new pop-up Mexican restaurant on the corner of Canal St. & 6th Avenue. The garden was created to provide NYC students with a calm and relaxing space in which to explore urban agriculture, culinary uses of herbs, plant anatomy, worm composting, and the magic of growing food. Field trips are offered to students of all ages at no cost.
