Students learn through play in this workshop or workshop series all about designing board games.
Through designing games, students can build project-management, teamwork, creative thinking, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. In addition, board games can be an incredibly fun way for students to demonstrate their understanding of a subject. Have students create a game that teaches about a specific subject matter, or let their creativity run wild!
For single workshops, students may begin by modifying existing games. Or, after receiving direct instruction, they might simply brainstorm concepts and gameplay mechanics, and create sketches for a new game.
For longer workshops and workshop series, students will move on to building a prototype for their new game and playtesting other's creations.
This experience is highly-customizable for different age groups, content, and workshop length.
Workshop capacity depends on school staffing and set-up.
