In this hands-on lesson, students step into the role of paleontologists as they discover what fossils are and how they form. Through exploration, digging, and investigation stations, students examine different fossils to uncover clues about ancient plants and animals, imagine the environments they once lived in, and compare them to living organisms and habitats today. By learning through play and inquiry, students experience how scientists use fossils as evidence to better understand the history of life on Earth.
