Field Trip to Teaching Garden Spring 2026

Description

Take a trip to GrowNYCs Teaching Garden on Governors Island! Students will see the farm and participate in age-appropriate hands-on garden education. All students will get a chance to help with a garden activity (either planting a seed or transplant, sifting and spreading compost, or whatever task is needed for the farm that day).

Please note: The field trip time slot denotes the ferry time (i.e. 10:00 AM field trip slot means your class will be expected to catch the 10:00 AM ferry. We recommend trying to arrive to the ferry port 15 minutes before your scheduled ferry)

We have moved!

For any educators that have been to the Teaching Garden before, things are going to be a little different now that we have moved sites! We ask that you kindly review our updated policies page for major changes.

Please note for the Spring 2026 season: due to our move, we currently lack the infrastructure to host students grades K-3.

GrowNYC's Governors Island Teaching Garden is a 43,560 square foot urban farm that aims to engage, excite, and educate its visitors in all aspects of urban farming.

Early registration for the Spring 2026 season is reserved for schools with an Economic Need Index (ENI) above 75%, and will begin March 23rd

Regular registration for Spring 2026 begins March 30th. This is for schools with an ENI below 75%.

We use this website to determine a school's ENI %
