Educational Explorations
Description
"Educational Explorations" is a hands-on, interdisciplinary, inquiry-based private lesson program. Each session is led by an experienced museum educator and focuses on a topic related to our mission. Programs have connections to core social studies, science, reading and writing curricula, teach important life skills, and can be tailored for students from kindergarten to grade 12. We welcome siblings, cousins, friends or neighbors to sign up for one of these educational adventures. Students will dig deeper into history with our archaeology programs, study scientific concepts through hands-on ecology programs, cultivate community and critical thinking skills, and connect with a culture that has more than 10,000 years of history.

The Institute For American Indian Studies
The Institute for American Indian Studies (IAIS) is a museum and research center in Washington, CT dedicated to preserving and educating about the diverse traditions, vitality, and knowledge of Native American cultures. The museum is nestled on 15 acres of woodlands and trails, complete with an outdoor 16th Century Replicated Algonkian Village, Three Sisters Garden, and Healing Plants Garden. Our interdisciplinary school programs are designed with the CT and NY State Standards in mind to encourage discussions and provide interactive learning through hands-on activities either at our facility or yours.
