Bird Beak Mystery - In School
Description
Calling all bird detectives! Students will solve a bird mystery by using clues about local birds' beaks, feathers, feet, and wingspans. They will use hands-on demonstrations and activities to learn about bird adaptations, physiology, and behaviors.
This lesson can feature an additional 45 minute binocular scavenger hun that can take place in a school yard for $50 per class.
Our recommended capacity for in-school programs is 30 students to ensure everyone gets the best hands-on experience, but they can also be done as an auditorium style presentation for larger groups.

Wild Roots Nature Center at Severson Dells Forest Preserve sits on 369 acres of prairie, savanna, and forest and features a winding creek lined with ancient rock walls. The land and lodge were donated to the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County by Harry and Fannie Severson in 1975, and the Nature Center was established in 1976. Our mission is to inspire conservation of nature through education and stewardship, cultivating connections between people and place.
Your group leaders will include our staff, AmeriCorps service members, and fabulous volunteers.
