Art Outdoors for Learning Pods

Description

Explore Museum grounds and learn new drawing techniques in our outdoor pod learning experience. Each 1-hour long class is led by a MAM teaching artist with all art materials provided so kids can get creative and have fun. Choose from the following options or schedule a series of all 4 classes, so your children can experiment with a variety of media including graphite, watercolor pencil, and pastel. Registration includes free admission to visit Museum galleries in-person following the lesson, at your own convenience.

Available Fridays 11 a.m.-12 p.m., 12:30-1:30 p.m., 2-3 p.m., 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Choose a theme:

Architectural Drawing
Learn linear perspective and compositional arrangement while focusing on the Museum façade.

Objects in Environments
Learn rendering techniques to depict objects in space while drawing from sculptures on Museum grounds.

Figure Drawing
Students take turn modeling for each other and practice rendering gestures and proportion to convincingly draw the human form.

Nature Drawing
Capture details from nature and the changing seasons through close observational drawing of plant life and other elements of the natural world.

Class is limited to 9 or fewer students and must include at least one adult chaperone. All participants must adhere to MAM’s Covid-19 guidelines including mask wearing, and classes will be rescheduled in the case of inclement weather.
