City Growers uses urban agriculture to engage youth in experiential learning, nurturing a lifelong relationship to food, their health, and the natural world. We host field trips for youth at Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farms in Sunset Park, and at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

GETTING HERE:
A City Growers educator will meet your group at the Captain America statue inside the mall entrance to Bed Bath and Beyond. Participants will then ride the passenger elevator directly to the roof.

Lunch Notes

There is a mall with pizza and other lunch options in the building where the farm is located, but the space for eating bagged lunches is very minimal. We recommend the courtyards at Industry City, just south of the farm between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, as a nearby option.

Bathroom Notes

There are binary gendered bathrooms on the second floor of the mall where the farm is located. There is also all gendered bathroom (2 stalls) located on the farm that uses a 5-digit access code.

Cancellation Policy

City Growers requires at least 2 weeks notice from the visiting group to cancel a workshop without penalty. Cancellations made by the visiting group within 2 weeks of a scheduled workshop require a cancellation fee of 30% of the total cost.

For weather-related cancellations: In the event of a thunderstorm, severe heat advisory, or other weather-related concern, we will reschedule the workshop without penalty. We have ponchos available for light rain. Please email info@citygrowers.org if you need to reschedule.

For COVID-related cancellations: If you need to cancel due to a COVID-related reason, you can do so without penalty and we will do our best to reschedule your workshop. If we can’t reschedule it, we will reimburse you.

Please note: Brooklyn Grange is a working farm, and on rare occasions, the needs of the farm (agricultural inspections, events, construction, etc.) will force us to cancel a scheduled workshop. We understand that scheduling is difficult and can offer to reschedule your workshop, in the event of a farm-related cancelation.
