PRE AND POST LESSON PLAN Journey to the Past

Description

Learn about the history of transportation in New York City, and compare the past and present through the lens of public transit.

The New York Transit Museum works with teachers and students to develop free resources for classroom learning. Archival images, lesson plans, standards alignment, suggested reading lists, and background information can be used on their own, to prepare students for a trip to the New York Transit Museum, and to continue the learning after a visit.

Offered At

New York Transit Museum

The New York Transit Museum is dedicated to telling and preserving the stories of mass transportation – extraordinary engineering feats, workers who labored in the tunnels over 100 years ago, communities that were drastically transformed, and the ever-evolving technology, design, and ridership of a system that runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. (Opening hours only reflect the group tour schedule. Please visit our website for the general public hours.)
