Archaeology In Your Classroom

Description

Bring the world of archaeology to your classroom! For the next hour you will find yourself digging, finding, and working in the lab to uncover the secrets of Terra, an ancient city of potters. Join us on a journey through time where your students will play the role as researcher, scientist, and historian.
Objectives: Learn that there are different kinds of dirt, understand that archaeologists study our past through our things, and practice scientific data collection and recording, and making observations and inferences.

PARKER ARTS encompasses the many facilities and events that the Town of Parker’s Cultural Department oversees, including a wide variety of local, regional, national and international cultural, arts, scientific and educational programming.

The PACE Center is home to a 542-seat theater, art gallery, event room, dance studio, culinary teaching kitchen, green room and dressing rooms, an outdoor amphitheater, and several classrooms.

The Schoolhouse complex includes a rehabilitated 100-year-old historic school building with an event room, meeting rooms, and a dance studio; and a newly renovated non-historic annex with a 200-seat theater, art gallery and heritage center.

For Educators , PACE Center offers the opportunity to integrate and enrich their curriculum with live performing arts productions making curriculum connections with science, physics, health, literature, language arts, history, social studies, social and family life-skills, cooperation and teamwork, self-expression and performing arts. Parker Arts strives to provide access for youth, schools and other cultural organizations to engage in performing arts education.

Student matinees are provided several times throughout the school year. Often, matinee performances include post-show “talk-backs” with actors, directors, or technical crew that allow students to ask questions and further enrich their theater-going experience. Most student matinees include a study guide to assist in lesson plans.

Student group tickets are only $7 and one complimentary chaperone ticket is available for every ten student tickets purchased (up to ten chaperone tickets per group).

Group reservations are available only through PACE Center Box Office. Complete a Group Reservation Form online at www.ParkerArts.org/Schools. Student Group orders will receive confirmation by way of email invoice from PACE Center Box Office that is due 30 days in advanced of the performance.
